Terms of Use.

StoryKix is an interactive fiction service operated by Shah Corporation Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 08117456, registered office: Irish Square, Upper Denbigh Road, St Asaph, Denbighshire, LL17 0RN), trading as Awakened Media ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, signing in, or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The service

StoryKix delivers serialised interactive fiction, which may include text, imagery, audio, and music. Stories are released as short chapters and some are ongoing. Stories are entertainment only and are not factual, predictive, or representative of any real person, event, or place.

You may use the service only for personal, non-commercial enjoyment. You may not scrape, reproduce, redistribute, or republish any story or other content from the service without our prior written permission.

Accounts

You are responsible for your account, your sign-in credentials, and any activity that takes place through it. We may suspend or close any account at our sole discretion, at any time, without notice or reason.

You must be at least 18 years old to use StoryKix.

Credits

StoryKix uses a credit system. Credits are an internal usage allowance, not money, not a financial product, and not redeemable for cash.

We may grant free credits at our sole discretion. We may also vary, withdraw, expire, or remove any free credits at any time, for any reason, without notice.

Where credits are purchased, they are licensed to you for use within StoryKix only. Purchases are final, non-refundable, and non-transferable. Credits have no monetary value and may not be exchanged or returned. Unspent credits — whether free, purchased, or granted with a subscription — are never refunded, exchanged for money, or carried out of the service in any form, including when they expire, when your account is closed, or when you cancel a subscription. Purchased credits expire 12 months after purchase; other credits (including free grants and subscription allowances) expire on the terms stated for them, and all credits expire in any event when your account is closed. We may vary any expiry period, and the expiry rules for any credit grant or purchase, at our sole discretion. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Credits are a generic spending balance. The cost in credits of any part of the service — including chapters, scenes, narration, music, or any other feature — may be set or changed by us at any time, at our sole discretion, just as the price of any other product or service may change.

A subscription includes a periodic allowance of credits which can be spent on any part of the service (see Subscriptions below). These allowance credits are free credits granted by us and are subject to the rules for free credits above. Any unspent allowance carries over into the following billing period and then expires; it is not refundable and has no cash value. We may vary this carry-over and expiry behaviour at our sole discretion.

Subscriptions

We offer paid subscriptions that renew automatically. We currently offer a monthly plan and a weekly plan; the price, billing cadence, any free-trial period, and what each plan includes are shown at checkout. Prices are stated and charged in US dollars (USD).

Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, and you authorise us (through our payment processor) to charge your payment method for each renewal, until you cancel.

Free trial. Where a plan includes a free trial, you will not be charged during the trial, and you may cancel before it ends to avoid any charge. Your subscription credit allowance is granted only when a paid billing period begins — you do not receive the allowance during a free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your plan converts to a paid subscription automatically.

What a subscription gives you. An active subscription provides a credit allowance each billing period, which can be spent on any story or chapter in the service. Once the allowance for a period is used, further reading is charged in credits in the normal way, and you may buy additional credits at any time. The allowance is granted at the start of each paid billing period and only while the subscription is active.

Cancelling. You may cancel at any time through the subscription management tools we provide. If you cancel, you keep access for the remainder of the billing period you have already paid for, and your subscription then ends. We do not refund the current or any past billing period if you cancel.

Our rights over subscriptions. We may, at our sole discretion and at any time: change the price of any plan (any change applies from your next billing period); change, add, or remove plans; change what any plan includes, including any credit allowance; or cancel, suspend, or discontinue any subscription or the subscription offering entirely. If we cancel your subscription, or discontinue the service, we may — but are not obliged to — offer a pro-rata refund of the unused portion of your current billing period. Except where we choose to offer such a refund, and except as required by law, subscription payments are non-refundable. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

No guarantees

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, express or implied, including (without limitation) any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, uninterrupted operation, or that any particular feature will continue to exist.

We may change, pause, limit, withdraw, restrict, or discontinue any part of the service — including any specific story, feature, or your access to it — at any time, for any reason, without notice and without liability.

User conduct

You agree not to: (a) attempt to circumvent the credit system, signup gate, or any technical limit; (b) use the service to request or distribute illegal, harmful, defamatory, or infringing content; (c) reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the underlying software, configurations, or creative logic of the service; (d) use automated tools, bots, or scrapers against the service.

Breach of any of the above entitles us to suspend or close your account and forfeit any unused credits without refund.

Intellectual property

All software, design, story configurations, creative logic, and any reusable creative material underlying the service are the intellectual property of Shah Corporation Limited. Story content delivered to you is provided for personal enjoyment only — you do not acquire ownership, copyright, or any commercial rights in it.

Third parties

The service uses third-party providers (including content and infrastructure providers, hosting, analytics, payment processing, and email delivery). Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe; your use of Stripe is subject to its own terms, and your card details are handled by Stripe, not stored by us. We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, content, or availability of any third party. Sign-in via Google or other providers is subject to their own terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shah Corporation Limited, its officers, employees, contributors, and licensors accept no liability whatsoever for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss or damage — including loss of data, loss of credits, loss of access, loss of enjoyment, distress, or any commercial loss — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims is limited to the lesser of: (a) the amount you paid us in the three months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £20 (or its equivalent in the currency you paid in).

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

You use the service entirely at your own risk.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Shah Corporation Limited against any claim, loss, damage, cost, or expense (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice where reasonably practicable. The current version is the version published on this page. Continued use of the service after any change constitutes acceptance.
